Promnite was born in a Los Angeles studio in 2014, but PJ Sledge’s career in music began years before that. Inspired by the underground sounds of Low End Theory and the Los Angeles beat scene, the New York native moved to the West Coast in 2011, where he quickly linked up with a group of producers who would go on to form Team Supreme. Known to the world as Colta during these years, PJ repurposed his early influences in everything from punk and skate rock to electro and drum & bass, and the project gained momentum quickly thanks in part to a debut Boiler Room performance in spring of 2013 and production work for Diplo’s Mad Decent outfit alongside the likes of Mr. Carmack, Djemba Djemba, and Penthouse Penthouse.
